I just got around to checking out Wikiquote. I like it. Spent alot of the morning poking around in between Emerson and Whitman, my two dear friends. (Does anyone else lay claim to feeling like all kinds of celebs, dead and alive are your friends, dead serious, sometimes better than your real friends in some ways?:))
Wikipedia is genius and now that I found out about Wikiquote I am going to check out all the other Wiki-stuff. So amazing, really, how much is out there....and how much internetting I can do with my laptop! Its not often on my lap, but its on the kitchen counter, couch, bed, here and there, little snippets.
Here are two quotes from dear old R.W. Emerson for today:
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
I give this to all of you as a nudge towards bravery and authenticity in whatever that means to you. As advice and encouragement, from 150 years ago to today and for always.
*I also figured out that this computer has its own little seeing eye camera right in it(creepy/cool) and took this pic whilst sitting here! I cant rave on enough about the Aspire One by Acer. WalMart. 288 bucks. Yes we shop at Walmart.

We refuse to shop at Wal-mart due to all of the usual political reasons, but I think it's really cool that you admit you do shop there! I love it when people don't care what others think. :)
Is that your sunny kitchen in the background? Your new house looks really cute, and I loved your videos. I got a little video recorder for my B-day and I am having a hard time figuring it out...but now I am inspired.
As for your Acer laptop...what a great price! My niece Snipes with her little camera (that I never knew was there too). Our computer is getting ready to crash. I am hoping to find a good deal. Thanks for the tip.
And the quotes are cool too!
Yes, once I started looking into all of that, it turns out that each BigStore has its own evil secrets, denying of health benefits to same sex partners, using exploitive practices, running mom and pop stores out of town....and so each person has to decide what if any thing they are going to do that is good for the earth, or saves the animals, or supports small business, etc. Finally going to WalMart to see what all the fuss was about a few years ago was one thing we softened our stance on as we tried to make our way on the one salary, etc. I am sure that they are very cheap laptops anywhere, maybe even cheaper than I got it for. So I guess you could say that I am for choosing where you want to shop and for honesty! Like, I totally get why people dont go there and I also totally woildnt judge someone if they did. Cuz for all I know they are going home to their solar powered house full of adopted runaways who do charity work 24-7. Or just some family trying to stretch the dollar! (Im bringing all this up because Im working on a post similarily themed...soon to come)
Yes that is our sunny little kitchen, we might even be ready to reveal pics today, did alot of building/assembling/cleaning this weekend! Thanks for asking!
DONT be afraid of your technology. Even though I am, I am alwasy so so glad when I figure it out. Yes Mickey my 8 year old helps me tremendously, his fearless and patient step by step guidance is very wonderful=--but I think that girls and women must get confident with the gear! I am trying and when i do leartn a new gadget I feel so good about myself in these modern times, but its scary sometimes.
If you are lucky enough to have someone who already knows how to use something, have them have YOU do it all while they dictate the steps. If I just watch it doesnt go in my brain.
Hey, I shop there. I guess we qualify under the heading of just trying to stretch a buck. Especially right now.
Great quotes. I will take those to heart.
